Recently, fellow author and SCBWI member, Melissa Kline, and myself partnered to form Anassa Publications, LLC.  We both saw a need for new writers -- and some published authors -- to have a genuine publication experience.  We also felt that there was too much take, and not enough give, so we decided that one of Anassa Publication, LLC's annual anthologies will be to benefit a charity or community need.  Editing services are part of the submission process.

✎ Published Author - "The Glazed Penguin", Speaking Your Truth Vol. II
Have you ever had an experience that was so unique, it changed the way you felt about an event or an individual?  "The Glazed Penguin" was one of those experiences for me.  This is the story of one night I spent working the graveyard shift as a 9-1-1 dispatcher, where the caller was not only someone I knew, but it was a member of my extended family.

Experience includes script writer, videographer, producer, and voice over talent for promotional videos, including the Speaking Your Truth series.

✎ Narration / Voice Over
Narration of books, scripts, and other items for various projects requiring a voice over or narration.  Experience includes narration of book segments for publication through libraries and public domain venues, corporate training aids and promotional media, and private projects for animated characters. Played the voice of the computer on a promotional collectors DVD for the Houston Rockets basketball team.

Public Information and Community Outreach
Often a community, city, county, or state will have a newsletter or some other form of media circulation that provides the public with information related to various topics.  While serving as the Division Director for both Communications and IT divisions, several articles were authored on a regular basis to inform a local community about the status of both divisions of their fire department.

✎ Producer of a Public Service Announcement (PSA) regarding the elderly and 9-1-1.
The elderly often don't call 9-1-1 right away because they feel they will be a burden.  This PSA, which aired on cable networks in Jefferson County, CO, served as an informational message to reassure the target audience that calling 9-1-1 is not a burden, but it's the reason emergency services are here -- to help at all hours of the day or night.

Did you know that a company who has stocks and shareholders is required to give a quarterly report to its shareholders?  These reports are often provided live via teleconference or web conference, and in written report formats.  A captioner transcribes these conferences live, and an editor (such as myself) must edit "on the fly" with speed, accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent grammar, editing, and formatting skills such that a live edit of these transcribed documents can be completed in a very short time following the end of the conference.  These completed reports and/or documents are then made available to the public.

Did you know that a search engine needs an editor to ensure that a query pulls up the correct web page?  My editing services provided information regarding the accuracy of these algorithms, enabling other teams to correct any faulty search strings, and also provided information to the parent company regarding accuracy of the telecommute interface.
